Specifications

The DEXPI specifications provide open, vendor-neutral data models to enable standardized exchange of engineering information across the process industry. They form the foundation for digital continuity along the entire asset lifecycle and are openly available for download.

DEXPI Specification 2.0 – great news!

The DEXPI Specification 2.0 defines a standardized data model for plant models and process models, enabling consistent exchange of engineering information, especially BFDs, PFDs, and P&IDs, across tools and organizations. Version 2.0 further improves interoperability and extends support for process industry requirements. It comprises the DEXPI P&ID Specification 1.4 as plant model and an improved version of the DEXPI Process Specification as process model.

DEXPI 2.0 is the first version making use of DEXPI XML as the format for the specification as well as the serialization of instances/diagrams. Starting with this version, DEXPI can be fully used without the need for implementation of Proteus XML schema.

DEXPI P&ID Specification 1.4

The DEXPI P&ID Specification defines a standardized data model for piping and instrumentation diagrams, enabling consistent exchange of engineering information across tools and organizations. Version 1.4 further improves interoperability and extends support for process industry requirements.

DEXPI Process Specification 1.0

The DEXPI Process Specification provides a harmonized data model for process engineering information, complementing the P&ID specification and supporting seamless integration across the asset lifecycle. Version 1.0 marks the first release and establishes the foundation for further extensions.

Available as [PDF], [HTML], and with [supporting materials] and a [manual].
